A Look at the Causes and Impacts of Floods Around The World
This summer, floods triggered by tropical cyclones caused major suffering around the world. However, this was not the worst year for floods. Nor are tropical cyclones historically the major cause. An analysis of data from the past 30 years shows that heavy rain were the main factor.
This project analyzes 4,500 floods from Dec. 1984 to Sep. 2017 around the world, showing the relation between causes and impact of floods.
